Pretty & Witty was founded in 2009 by personal stylist Helen Tunney, who for many years had suffered from the chronic fatigue illness, Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME). Frustrated by the lack of choice on-line of affordable high quality handbags, scarves and small leather goods, she decided to launch her own e-commerce website selling beautiful accessories from lesser known designers to known favourites.

the challenge

After three years of dedicating most of her time to the growth and development of her business, Helen believed the operating platform of her old website was becoming outdated and that Pretty & Witty were missing sales opportunities that could be leveraged through the use of new web based technologies and social media.

The ladies accessories market is very competitive and Helen found herself spending more and more on both off-line and on-line marketing to maintain the presence of the website. It was also very difficult to accurately track sales performance. Helen wanted an e-commerce website that would deliver sales derived more from organic on-line marketing techniques and provide management information she could use to tailor her marketing. The site also had to drive business performance and deliver greater functionality to enhance the customer buying experience.

Based on our knowledge and expertise of creating other similar fashion based websites we created the operating platform to meet Pretty & Witty’s e-commerce needs. We then ensured the look and appearance matched their brand image, whilst also providing in built SEO tools to improve organic rankings, social media functions, an article blog facility, a sales management process and accurate management information to track overall performance.

Once the site was launched we offered on-line marketing advice and the option of a monthly retainer to ensure the website would be regularly marketed and ranked by Google.

the outcome

The website was successfully launched in August 2012. Feedback from the client and customers is very positive. Pretty & Witty now have a bespoke, professionally designed website with full editing control. On-line orders are seamlessly processed, and management information is timely and accurate. Pretty & Witty can link news and blog posts to key social media websites and generate on-line discussion and referrals. Customers can have a personalised account, which helps with on-going e-mail marketing and are now able to search the website and place orders quickly.
