A review of 2014
The pinnacle of 2014 was of course winning the Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award, and then being selected to go forward to represent the Notts, Derby & Leicestershire region at the British Chamber of Commerce National Awards held at the Tower of London, where we came runner up.
But that is just one highlight in an enormously satisfying year where our main objective was helping our customers develop successful online businesses.
Our focus as usual was centred around our key sectors; retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers, wherever possible helping customers to access any suitable grant funding available for ICT projects or for attracting new customers.
Award winning businesses such as Lion Track Hire, T&S Heating, Golf Support, Tech Tube Ltd and ATS Bullion joined our merry band of over 600 customers that collectively have transacted over £240,000,000. One very satisfied customer was Amber PreCast, who had to temporarily scale down their marketing in order to cope with the increase in demand following their new website launch!
Typically our clients have enjoyed a 200% + increase in traffic year on year and a 24% rise in e-commerce sales
We were delighted to also expand our portfolio into the sports sector following the launch of WeAreDerby.com, the official online ticketing and supporters’ website for Derby County Football Club. This also opened doors for us with other football clubs that included Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United.
The sports theme was continued with our sponsorship deals at Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey and Derbyshire County Cricket Club. We complimented this by becoming a Marketing Derby Bondholder and by supporting both the Leicester Mercury and Nottingham Post Sports Awards where we helped young sports men and women gain recognition for their hard work. These associations also led us to our chosen charity for this year, the Weston Park Hospital’s Cancer Charity for whom we hope to raise in excess of £2,000.
And of course the infamous golf shot of the year, played at Nailcote Hall in the 2013 British Par 3 received yet more coverage as part of the televised highlights of the 2014 event, boosting YouTube views to well in excess of 2 million, which has been great for generating new business enquiries.
Our growth necessitated a number of new people. Mitch Brown, Allison Briers and Josh Marshall boosted our client support team and Dominic Wiffin joined in August to boost new business development. In October we appointed Pete Everitt as our digital planning director.
A willingness to seek outside advice and establish robust systems and processes has also been instrumental in our 2014 success. Our management board was boosted by the expertise of Brett Critchley, who has grown and sold numerous businesses, our mentor Richard Crooks and our marketer Bev Cook. This team meet regularly to review progress and refine systems to ensure we deliver high quality customer service.
Other strategic partnerships have also helped us to win higher value projects with leading retailers.
In summary, it’s been a great year, in which we remained true to our values…
We don’t build websites we build businesses that have e-commerce websites with a purpose!
