Purpose Media have officially merged with A-Star Media!
The PM family is growing once again! The latest growth spurt is a long-awaited merger with the artists formerly known as A-Star Media – bringing in video production experts, Katrina Atherton, John Starkie and Tom Mumford – along with our new Client Greeting Officer, Pepper.We’ve kept it quiet while we see how the teams fit together, and it turns out we fit rather nicely.
Katrina, John and Tom will bring a plethora of video production options to our newly evolved services – further growing our clout as a full service digital agency.
With a collective 25 years of experience in video production, the new team members have worked with some highly-respected clients – from UKTI and the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce to Speedo and the BBC, creating some fantastic results along the way.
Meet the Team!
The inimitable Katrina established A-Star Media with business partner John while studying Broadcast Journalism at Nottingham Trent University. Now a fully trained broadcast journalist, she applies her creativity and insight to video; managing projects to suit any client need.
Well-versed in taking video projects from start to finish, she is experienced in pre-production, filming, editing and marketing to oversee the entire video production process; ensuring there is a high standard and injection of originality in every video.
Outside of video production, Katrina also sits on the board for the D2N2 Growth Hub and Young Enterprise Mansfield and Ashfield.
Taking the role of Video Technical Director, John will be putting his experience and creative flare behind the camera to dazzling effect.
John also earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Nottingham Trent University, before co-founding A-Star Media with Katrina. The dynamic duo have since created some truly original and highly effective video content – and will be bringing their expertise to Purpose Media clients!
When not behind the camera, or painstakingly editing footage afterwards, John can be found cycling like a man possessed – once cycling 300 miles in less that 24 hours doing RIDE 24!
As Video Production Manager, Tom will be bringing a wealth of experience to the role – previously, he has worked with the likes of Virgin, Nissan, Kings College and several PR and media agencies.
Originally from London, Tom has made the move to Chesterfield to see his beloved Crooked Spire on a regular basis. Also because that’s where his wife is from. But mainly for the Spire.
Tom can boast a BA Hons degree in Media Production, a BNUC-S UAV pilot license and, most impressively, was awarded Haven Holidays Hula Hoop Champion 1995. He has also filmed the Queen, but is understandably more proud of his dizzying hula hooping heights.
Though less technically-inclined, Pepper is a natural socialite and will be aiding the team as our new Client Greeting Officer.
Pepper has previously worked as a Waste Movement Assistant and Emotional Improvement Director, and is fitting in nicely with the new team, despite the initial language barrier.
Her hobbies include invading meetings, rummaging through bins and the occasional bark.
The collective skill and creativity of the new team members will help deliver an entirely new arm to Purpose Media’s marketing services.
The use of video is rapidly growing. YouTube is the world’s second most popular search engine – with 1 billion users, and viewing hours increasing by 50% year-on-year… a need for video as a marketing tool is clearer than ever.
Video has the potential to make customer experience much more fulfilling. It can be raise a company’s profile, provide product demonstrations, explain a highly technical topic or bring personality to a brand.
