Purpose Media hits the pitch to raise funds for local kids’ clubs.
Supporting grass roots sport
The team at Purpose Media raised more than £1,700 for three local youth football clubs during a charity match at our friend and partner Derby County FC’s Pride Park Stadium last weekend. Our managing director, Matt Wheatcroft, organised the game to raise funds for the three teams he coaches – ADASC Rangers U7s, ADASC Avengers U10s and GFC Alfreton Town’s U11s.
As part of the event, young players from each team were given a stadium tour before playing in a series of games against each other. They got full use of home and away dressing rooms, use of the DCFC pitch including goals and home and away dugouts, with officials supplied by the Derbyshire FA, to give them the chance to feel like a professional footballer.
Then, a Purpose Media XI took on a team of parents from the three teams in a friendly match, which Purpose Media won 6-4. The adult players all paid to play and there was a collection and charity raffle on the night, all of which raised £1,700, which will be split equally among the three youth teams.
Supporting local sport
Matt said: “Here at Purpose Media, we’re passionate about sport at all levels, from elite right the way down to grass roots, so it was great to be able to lay this event on to raise money for three local youth football clubs, to help nurture the next generation of talent.
“We’re a proud partner of Derby County and are extremely grateful to our good friends at the Rams for helping to organise the event and letting us take over the stadium for an evening to give these local youngsters the chance to experience what’s it’s like to play for a professional club.
“It was also a great way to thank our staff for all their efforts in helping to drive Purpose Media’s success over the past year, and to the parents of the youngsters at the three clubs for their commitment, passion and support.
“On a personal note, it was great to grab a couple of goals to help the Purpose Media to get the win… it’s one more thing ticked of my bucket list.”
