We understand how hard it can be to communicate your successes, especially to bodies outside of your industry who might not understand what you do.

Finding the time to effectively tell your story can be a challenge too, so whenever our team sees an opportunity we’re ready to help our customers shout about their achievements.

As a multi award-winning business, we know all about how winning an award can help to raise your profile, generate positive media coverage and boost staff morale.

So, it was great to be able to lend our expertise in putting together a compelling award entry to help our client, PCPM, scoop a prestigious award.

The Chesterfield-based firm, which was founded in 2005, was recently named the East Midlands’ Scale-up Business of the Year, by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

PCPM provides a range of refrigeration and heating, ventilation and air conditioning solutions, including the design, supply and installation of heating and cooling systems and commercial cold rooms.

It won the award on the back of its growth over the past two years, which has seen it double its turnover and increase its staff headcount to ten.

Its success has been, in large part, down to the work it has done with McDonald’s.

PCPM has provided refrigeration supply and installation services on more than 200 of its restaurants nationwide, as part of an ongoing programme of refurbishments.

The firm also designed, supplied and fitted its pop-up restaurant in the athletes’ village at the 2012 Olympics Games.

PCPM will now go on to represent the East Midlands region at the national FSB awards in May.

We worked closely with PCPM’s founder and Managing Director, Peter Crown, to get the full story of its success and craft it into a compelling narrative which met the criteria set by the FSB and impressed the judges.

And within an hour of finding out they had won the award, we had issued a press release and picture to the media, which was featured on industry news website The Cooling Post later that day. And the following morning, the regional press had started to pick up on the story.

Peter Crown said: “Winning the award was fantastic and is testament to our success and the hard work of our team over the past two years. It is a great honour to be able to represent the East Midlands region at the national awards later this year.

“We knew we had a great story to tell, but the support we received from Purpose Media in putting our application together was invaluable and was a key part of us winning this award.”

Jon Smart, our Head of PR, added: “Purpose Media has won several business awards over the years for our performance as a business and for our strengths in creativity and marketing, so it was great to be able to lend our expertise to one of our clients to help them win an award.

“Winning an award can do wonders for your business. It shows credibility and gives you an edge over your competitors. You can leverage it for media profile and it gives you great content for your blog and social media. It can also be a great reward for your staff, to recognise and acknowledge the hard work they put in.

“But, creating a compelling awards application is a specialist skill so even if you know your business and its story inside out, you may need some support in pulling it together to impress the judges – and that’s where we can help… and help secure you media coverage if you win.”
