They did it!
Our colleagues Sam, Hayley and Katrina braved the heavy rain and freezing fog on Friday night, as they spent the night sleeping rough to raise money and awareness for a local charity which helps the homeless.
They took part in YMCA Derbyshire’s 2018 Sleep East challenge, which saw them join representatives from more than 100 local businesses, to spend the night under the stars at Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
They were hoping to raise at least £300 for the charity… but so far, they have received £450 in donations.
All the money raised will go directly to the Safe Front Door campaign, which enables YMCA Derbyshire to continue to provide safe accommodation, opportunities for young people to engage in positive activities, work experience and volunteer opportunities and to gain business mentors.
Katrina said: “Despite the damp and cold, it was a great night and it was fantastic to see so many people from the local business community taking part for this extremely worthy cause.
“We managed to get around four hours’ sleep and we’re up in time to watch the sun come up on a beautiful morning in Derby.
“Many thanks to all the people who have sponsored us this year and helped us raise a decent amount of money for the charity, it’s very much appreciated. We’re still taking donations if you’d like to help.”
