Our in-house football team will be digging out their boots and dusting down their shinpads ahead of their much-anticipated return to Pride Park Stadium this Friday, for the return of our annual ‘Play on the Pitch’ charity challenge.

This year, we will be raising funds for Sleetmoor United, and will be taking on a team of parents from the new grassroots club.

Sleetmoor United was formed earlier this year, bringing  together ADASC FC, GFC Alfreton Girls and Ladies and Leabrooks Juniors Football Club under one umbrella, to form a single club with a united vision.

Over the years, all three clubs have touched the lives of thousands of families across Derbyshire, providing opportunities to participate in grass-roots sport, learn crucial life skills, make friends and have fun.

The club is currently working with a range of funding partners including the Football Foundation, the FA, local authorities and a wide range of third parties from business and the community to raise around £2m.

The cash will fund plans to create a state-of-the-art community sports facility at its home near Alfreton, complete with a floodlit 3G all-weather pitch, modern clubhouse and changing facilities and better grass playing surfaces for the remaining six pitches at the site.

Purpose Media is a proud supporter of the new club and we have pledged more than £100,000 worth of free marketing support over the next three years, to help it bring its ambitious plans to fruition.

Our Managing Director, Matt Wheatcroft, said: “We’re passionate about football here at Purpose Media and as a long-standing partner of Derby County FC, it’s great to once again be able to play on the hallowed turf of Pride Park and raise money for a local grassroots club in the process.

“the first match last year was a huge success and we are hoping that this year’s game will be another dramatic affair, which will see plenty of goals and entertainment for the crowd.”

Last year’s inaugural ‘Play on the Pitch’ game, pictured above, raised more than £1,700 for three local youth teams.

The game kicks off at 7pm and entry on the gate is £5 per spectator, all of which will go to Sleetmoor United.

We look forward to seeing you there.
