Using digital transformation the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) has adapted the way it communicates and engages with the world.
The team at Purpose Media were tasked with creating an engaging and contemporary platform that solidifies BCC’s place as the UK’s leading business organisation.
Its new website is aimed at positioning BCC as modern, dynamic and forward-thinking with business at its heart. You can see it here.
The site acts as a central online hub, giving businesses, regional Chambers, politicians and policymakers easy access to information about key BCC and Chamber network activities across a range of devices and social media channels.
It also consolidates several existing standalone BCC websites onto a single platform – meaning the platform streamlines customer interactions and supports BCC internally by simplifying processes.
Who are The British Chambers of Commerce?
BCC is the national umbrella body for an independent and influential network of accredited Chambers of Commerce based in every region of the UK, and in key markets around the world. The network represents businesses of all sizes and sectors and supports more than five million employees in the UK.
It is a leading commentator on the UK’s economy, is well-respected by Government and the media, and is highly influential in shaping policy and legislation locally, at Westminster and in Brussels.
How did PM win the contract?
Purpose Media was awarded the contract after a competitive procurement process, which saw agencies from across the UK submit tenders. It was chosen from a shortlist of six companies following a pitch at BCC’s London head office.
Allan Williams, Head of Communications and Press at the British Chambers of Commerce, said:
“We’re delighted with the launch of our new website. The site which Purpose put together is a great representation of the BCC and wider Chamber Network, and exactly what we wanted our site to reflect. It’s been great to work with Purpose to turn our vision into a reality.”
What did PM deliver?
To deliver the project, Purpose Media had to meet BCC’s four key objectives for the site, which were to change the ‘dated’ perception of the organisation, raise the profile of BCC’s activities and brand, encourage businesses to sign-up to their local chamber, and raise awareness of commercial partner benefits.
We did this by reimagining the site’s look and feel, giving it the same authority as a national media outlet to reflect the credibility BCC holds. As it is a heavily content-orientated site, we spent a lot of time assessing how users were previously struggling to navigate BCC’s old website, before creating a seamless experience for users looking for content across new platform.
The new website is more easily accessible by search engines and contains the necessary optimisation tools to give the content the best chance of being found in organic searches.
An interactive map which makes it easy for businesses to find their local chamber was integrated into the platform, along with many calls to action across the site directing users to this area.
A bespoke members’ area was developed, allowing member businesses to sign-in to retrieve exclusive content, giving them more reason to keep come back to the website.
And Purpose Media and BCC are now exploring the possibility of an ongoing marketing strategy to utilise all channels in delivering content more effectively and through various forms of media such as video, animation and infographics.
Purpose Media Account Director Jamie Bourn said:
“We’re a long-standing supporter of Chambers of Commerce, so we were delighted to win this contract.
“BCC is a fantastic organisation which helps businesses across the UK to flourish, succeed and realise their trading ambitions.
“We’ve been a proud patron of our local East Midlands Chamber and have worked closely with it for a number of years, so we were uniquely-placed to deliver an online platform which has positioned BCC at the heart of the national business agenda.”
