Derbyshire County Cricket Club has renewed its marketing partnership with Purpose Media for another two years.

We were first appointed in 2015 to provide a range of marketing services. Initially, this involved helping DCCC develop an improved web presence to promote the venue for corporate events, weddings and functions, as well as provide email marketing and other digital marketing services to enhance external communication.

Over the last two years this has proved to be extremely successful in helping to increase venue bookings, membership of the 1870 Business Club and improve engagement with cricket fans.

Boosting enquiries

Enquiries for corporate events have increased 172% and for the last two years their Christmas events have been a complete sell out. Engagement with their cricket fan-base has also increased. A website visitor now spends 20 seconds longer browsing the website, with traffic rising by overall by 49% and organic traffic rising by 128%.

The Pattonair County Ground has secured the honour to host music concerts featuring legendary artists such as Elton John, Boyzone, and an evening of ABBA. In August, stars of London’s West End will perform an evening with Queen and the venue will also play host to Derby Sound featuring Rita Ora, Rudimental and The Vamps. Many high-profile cricket fixtures have also been hosted such as the Women’s World Cup and England International games. proving that the facilities and management of events is first class.

By extending the partnership deal with Purpose Media, DCCC plans to further improve the effectiveness of its marketing. This will include further enhancing the website to offer fans a 24/7 match day experience. This will be seamlessly integrated with social platforms, live commentary and live video streaming, positioning the cricket club at the forefront of digital evolution in sport.

Successful track record

Commenting, Matt Wheatcroft, Managing Director of Purpose Media said, “We have built a very successful track record of helping businesses and sports clubs such as Derby County FC, Rotherham United FC, and Middlesex County Cricket Club and local grassroots clubs to develop their branding and online marketing strategy. By extending the Partnership with DCCC we will be helping them to provide fans with an improved user experience, whilst also helping the club increase profitability by moving away from processing tickets manually or using third-party ticketing websites.”

Last year Purpose Media was instrumental in bring live streaming of the DCCC matches via the DCCC website and this has proven to be a big hit with the fans as they can now watch every ball of every match at The Pattonair County Ground. This service will again be on offer for the new season.
