On 20th June, over 150 guests flocked to Winstanley House in Leicestershire to celebrate the eighth Director of the Year Awards.

Presented by East Midlands Today’s Anne Davies, the Director of the Year Awards recognise the success of directors and business leaders based in the East Midlands, with the winners of each category being put forward for the national awards in London.

The Institute of Directors (IoD) support, represent and set standards for business leaders throughout the UK. Offering training and qualifications to develop skills, the IoD have positioned themselves as a platform that all directors look up to.

Celebrating success

The event kicked off with a drinks reception and networking, with lots of opportunities to congratulate fellow nominees before being taken to our table for the afternoon.

To get us all ready for the exciting afternoon ahead, all the guests were encouraged to join in on a 150-strong game of ‘Heads or Tails’. Katrina got her game face on and set Team Purpose off to a great start by winning the game and taking home the first trophy of the day!

After some post-game celebrations and food, the awards were in full swing. Each category celebrated the success of nominees from every sector showcasing the incredible talent the East Midlands has to offer.

Katrina’s success continued into the awards, being Highly Commended in the Small Business category. As one of the only two nominees from Derbyshire that received recognition, all of us at team Purpose are incredibly proud of her achievements.

Reflecting on her award, Katrina said; ‘The IoD is a brilliant organisation, and I get a lot from it in terms of the knowledge, support and networking available. To get recognition like this is amazing and I’m really proud.’

On hearing about Katrina’s success at the awards, Purpose Media’s Managing Director, Matt Wheatcroft, said; ‘Katie puts a deal of effort in her role, and also ensuring our clients and the wider business community are represented and get support, by taking part in lobbying and various boards. Recognition like this is well deserved and she always does the team here proud.’
