After announcing our appointment to develop a new look website with fan focussed features for Leyton Orient FC back in May – this week we’ve proudly blown the final whistle on the design and build of the project and set the website live.
The win came as the team at Purpose continued to build our reputation for creating highly interactive sport websites, previously working for teams such as Derby County FC, Rotherham United FC, and Middlesex and Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
A site built for fans
Last season, Leyton Orient made the decision to leave the EFL Digital agreement that had provided the Club’s website for over a decade.
Since then, the O’s have been working with Purpose Media to build a highly interactive, engaging new platform. The new site has used supporter-feedback at the heart of its design to ensure it meets the needs of supporters, fans and partners and is fully mobile-responsive and with a fresh, clean design.
New features mean more ways to connect with the club
The site also hosts an improved video platform called Orient TV, home of the club’s video on demand and live content. With the Club entering the EFL, supporters outside the UK and Ireland will be able to watch all eligible games via the Club’s new streaming capabilities. All video on demand content will be made available for free to supporters who have registered with the site, meaning more content is going to be available to fans than ever before – with extended highlights, full match replays amongst the content to be hosted on OrientTV.
A brand-new match-centre will create a hub for all things on a match-day with more statistics than ever before readily available along with plenty of content before, during and after a game to make supporters feel even closer to the action!
Once the season starts, player profiles will have detailed information on a player including performance statistics, while the improved news categorisation makes it easier to find specific content relating to what you want to know.
Digital Transformation with a Rapid Turnaround
Purpose Media Account Director, Jamie Bourn, said: “Leyton Orient wanted to rapidly transform their digital approach and decided our tried and tested web platform, which offers a range of customisable options, was their best bet.
“Working with the O’s has been a great collaboration so far, and our ongoing partnership means we can support Leyton Orient with ongoing strategic marketing advice. They’re a great club and we’re looking to acting as an extension of their team into the next season and beyond.”
New website unlocks club’s potential
Commenting on behalf of Leyton Orient FC, Elliot Byrne, Media Manager, said: “The team at Purpose have put so much effort into our new site and it really shows, from the start Purpose Media was the outstanding candidate and it’s been great to work with them on this project.
“By partnering with an agency that had a proven track record, outstanding ability and a desire to work with us, we’ve built a site that puts fans first and we’ve already had some great feedback about how good the new site looks and the new features fans can access.
“Our new website unlocks the club’s digital potential, and we see it as the core of our media strategy moving forward as a central hub for all forms of content.
“The decision to leave the EFL Digital platform and chose Purpose Media has helped us realise what’s possible with an online platform and create the best online experience for supporters.”
