As a family-run funeral director celebrates its 160th anniversary, Purpose Media join forces with the business to support the development of their future marketing strategy.

G. Wathall and Son funeral directors based in Derby can trace its roots back to 1858.

Since those early days, the business has grown to become an integral part of their community. Six generations of the Wathall family have been involved in the firm and still to this day it remains a family business.

It’s the longest established independent funeral directors in Derby and has witnessed many changes during the last 160 years, most recently its partnership with Purpose Media, which was the catalyst for their rebrand in 2018.

While the company’s extensive experience has set it apart, the team at Wathall’s were keen to give the brand a fresh, new look to strengthen identity and allow the business to enter a new phase.

Focus on the Future

Helping Wathall’s to focus on its future and the changing needs of the people and families it works with, we have created Wathall’s a new set of brand assets, including new brand colours, a logo, and typography.

Along with a strong visual identity, we’ve worked alongside the team at Wathall’s to create content to help filter across its communication channels.

We have written new brand messaging, which is currently being applied to existing communications, filtering appropriate SEO terms throughout to help Wathall’s bring in new customers and appeal to the increasingly diverse needs of modern families coping with loss.
