Helping DCFC Bring Football Home

Derby County Football Club enlisted our help to give Rams supporters the ultimate at-home football experience as the EFL Sky Bet Championship returns.

With the players back on the pitch, Derby County needed help strengthening their live streaming service; Rams TV, to handle increased traffic and provide an easy-to-use service.

We’ve been working with Derby County over the last few years to build and develop a fan-first website since the club moved away from the EFL Digital agreement.

The latest challenge came as the Covid-19 pandemic put a stop to the football season earlier this year. As the situation developed, it became clear that football clubs needed to find a new way to give the fans their football fix from the comfort of their own home.

We worked closely with Derby to improve the livestream service hosted on their website. Through rigorous website and server testing, the DCFC website can now handle enhanced traffic with improved usability of the streaming service for fans.

Technical Director, Tim Lenton said, “As football fans ourselves, we know how important it is for fans to watch the game, even if it’s from home.

After a long break in the season, we knew demand for the streaming service would skyrocket, so we made sure the servers could handle the increased traffic as smoothly as possible.”

Head of IT Services at Derby County, Martin Coleman, commented “Purpose Media have been great throughout the whole process. They knew exactly what needed to be done in order to give our supporters the best game experience given the unprecedented circumstances.

Our collaborative efforts resulted in a record number of supporters easily registering, logging in and watching the Rams secure a victory in their first game back behind closed doors.”
