New goal for ex-football club exec Jordan

Former football club executive Jordan Worthington is the latest addition to the Purpose Media team.

The ex-head of venue, ticketing and retail at Notts County FC has joined the agency as a senior account manager.

And a few weeks into his new role, he’s already relishing the opportunity to utilise the experience he has gained during more than 15 years in professional sport to help clients achieve their business goals.

“Football can be a hectic environment, and, with many competing priorities, I wasn’t always able to be as creative as I would like or to focus on the long-term picture,” he says.

“But, here at Purpose, I’m already getting chance to identify innovative ways of helping clients to grow and to look further ahead to achieve their strategic objectives.”

Jordan began his career working in PR and marketing at Nottingham Forest and ended an 11year spell at the club as ticket office manager. During five years with Notts County, he oversaw a team of around 200 dealing with ticketing, conferencing, events and retail.

He also spent time as a marketing consultant in estate agency and was ticketing venue manager for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

“I gained a broad range of experience, including commissioning external advertising, dealing with radio and TV, and launching products, such as new club shirts, through multi-channel campaigns,” he says.

“All of these are skills which I believe will be of use to Purpose clients.”

Jordan believes the best way for a business to maximise opportunity is to view things from a customer perspective.

“Understanding the customer journey, how that differs depending on customer type, and what the touchpoints are that allow a business to interact and influence behaviour are vital,” he says.

“Creativity is also key – ensuring your marketing really resonates with your target audiences – and I really appreciate the creative freedom that Purpose encourages to help us design campaigns which really make a difference for our clients.”

Purpose Media Client Services Director Matt Bonser believes Jordan’s depth of experience will be a major asset to the agency.

“His strong commercial background, marketing skills, organisational abilities and aptitude for creating and building relationships will create significant value for us and, crucially, for our clients,” he says.

Jordan will take the lead on a number of key accounts, ensuring we capitalise on all opportunities and deliver the highest quality service. It’s great to have him on board.”

Purpose has also welcomed Sophie Bentley to the business as a client services apprentice. Sophie will study for a level 3 multi-channel marketing qualification whilst assisting the team with a range of duties, including client communication, project planning, social media and content marketing.
