Winner and shortlisted team members in prestigious awards

We have just received the awesome news that Grace Golden and Ruby Birks have been shortlisted as finalists for two prestigious awards.

Ruby Birks, who has just completed her apprenticeship and is now a project manager, has just been announced the winner of the Apprentice of the Year category in the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce Generation Next Awards. She has also been shortlisted for the Enterprising Women Awards for ‘Apprentice of the Year’ whilst Grace Golden has been shortlisted in the ‘Rising Star’ category in the Enterprising Women Awards.

Why we nominated Ruby

We nominated Ruby in the apprentice of the year category because having supported her line manager and the technical director in rolling out many new processes, she has played a key part in further developing and improving systems based on her recommendations. Through introducing these processes all areas of the business – from production to account management – have benefitted from increased efficiencies, enhanced communication and better teamwork and understanding between departments.

Ruby has just completed her apprenticeship and achieved a distinction in her final examinations. Her biggest achievement is that she has integrated well into the company and made herself a valued key member of the team. Throughout her apprenticeship Ruby has shone brightly as a result of being able to fully demonstrate her skills and has a bright future ahead of her. Now her apprenticeship has ended, she has already been promoted be a project manager, and will begin studying for Prince2 project management qualifications.

Purpose Media has a long track record of employing and training over 20 apprentices, many of which now hold senior roles. We value that apprenticeship schemes are one of the best sources of talent and lead to success both for the employer and the apprentice.

Why we nominated Grace

The Rising Star award in the Enterprising Women awards aim to recognise a female professional aged between 18 and 35 to showcase someone who has achieved exceptional career growth, with potential to develop into a future leader.

We nominated Grace because since joining just over a year ago, she has made a significant contribution to our growth, shown great leadership and taken responsibility for ensuring client satisfaction and new business targets are achieved.

She has galvanised the team with her professional yet fun and straightforward approach when dealing with colleagues, clients and strategic partners. She’s come in and has led the sales and account management team at a time of great business uncertainty. She has created a secure and rewarding work environment for her colleagues by ensuring the sales process achieves its financial objectives and has a strong pipeline of new enquiries. Moreover, she has proven herself to be a great communicator and business adviser who has helped secure the survival of many high street businesses.

About the awards ceremonies

The Generation Next Awards celebrate young talent from across the East Midlands business community with Ruby having found out she won at the awards ceremony, which took place at Bustler Market in Derby on Thursday 14 July 2022.  Bustler Market is a Purpose Media client so we were also hoping the event attracted a huge crowd.

The Enterprising Women Awards are a celebration of the amazing work that is carried out by women in business in our region every day. This year’s awards ceremony will be held on Friday 30 September in a joint celebration for Enterprising Women’s 25th anniversary at The Leicester Tigers Stadium in Leicester.
