Helping a leading boiler, plumbing and heating specialist to grow its business and diversify its customer base

OBJECTIVES
S O’Brien Heating Solutions has been providing outstanding boiler, plumbing and heating services in the Midlands since 2011. With a team of over 200 expert engineers, it required marketing support to help grow business regionally, as well as increase its volume of domestic customers.

STRATEGY
S O’Brien is a family-owned business with big ambitions. Steve O’Brien, the company’s managing director, set up the business after working for a number of prominent companies in the boiler industry.

Having built his own business on the mantra of “Because manners cost nothing”, the firm’s success is driven by its unwavering commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction.

With the majority of its work stemming from contracts with large boiler manufacturers and suppliers, S O’Brien has established itself as a trusted partner for B2B clients over the past 10 years. But the business knew it had an opportunity for growth in the domestic market.

Purpose Media began working with S O’Brien in February 2023 and has since raised the brand awareness and local visibility of the company through a multi-channel strategy.

Our digital experts analysed target personas, as well as the channels in which these audiences would be active, before proposing an approach aimed at positioning the company as the go-to boiler partner in Derby and the Midlands.

We generated awareness at the top of the funnel through channels such as organic social media, paid social and SEO.

With a focus on regional opportunities, we knew it was essential to implement a local search strategy, which involved optimising the firm’s Google Business Profile, as well as creating new business listings, website updates and building online reviews to establish trust and increase visibility.

To capture the interest generated through awareness, we utilised paid PPC and Google Ad campaigns, supported by further local SEO work.

Our team devised a strategy which recognised seasonal trends and peaks in demand for S O’Brien’s services, allowing tailoring of marketing efforts to optimal effect.

RESULTS
The increase in the growth of domestic customers has been spectacular.

And overall awareness of the business has improved drastically.

Paid social and organic social media channels generated over 1.75M impressions in the last 9 months. And reached over 200,000 people in Derbyshire.

On top of that, we’ve achieved page 1 rankings on Google for all S O’Brien’s key services, as well as boosted visibility on the map pack.

Plus, users of the website went up by 162% in the last 3 months, compared to the previous year.

Through our work with S O’Brien, we’ve contributed to the continued growth of the business, yielding results which have improved brand visibility and awareness in the local area.

In order to expand the business longer term, Purpose Media looks forward to applying this successful marketing model in surrounding geographic areas.
